Before its release, Headrobot Cobra was shown in a gray and black color scheme. This "prototype colors" version of Cobra would eventually be released through a number of exclusive channels - 60 pieces were available at Nordcon 2010 in Aalbord Denmark on June 19-20 2010 under the name Mixcoatl. A further run was available at Germany's C.O.N.S. convention in July 2010, and a single prototype colors Cobra was also offered as a prize through a contest on Sector 70.
