P(arody)D(eformed)Transformers were released around 1990, and there were larger Gum series and smaller Choco series. PDTransformers have their own backstory; Well-known G1 characters have been sucked into a black hole and it has squashed their bodies. They emerge as PDTransformers, and Cybertrons and Destrons fight over the control of a mysterious Black Ball.
Each PDTF kit comes with a mini comic by Hidetsugu Yoshioka, known for the works such as Japanese G2 and more recent eHobby exclusive pack-in comics.
The images show the Convoy kit with some details added with paint.
