This one is a bit complicated to explain, so bear with us...
In Beast Wars, there was the original Cybershark toy.
In the Japan only sequel, Beast Wars Second, there was a character named Starscream (no relation)
BW2 Starscream got upgraded into a cyborg beast named Hellscream, whose toy was a remolded Cybershark.
In America, Cybershark was brought back in the Transmetal 2 series with a new mold toy as a different breed of cyborg shark.
This Transmetal 2 Cybershark went on to be redecoed into Gelshark and thus the original Robots in Disguise Sky Byte.
Sky Byte was later homaged with a new mold toy in the Generations line.
And that new toy was then redecoed into this character, who seems to be a cyborg beast version of Skywarp in the same vein as the Beast Wars Second Hellscream upgrade of Starscream.
